„Good approaches and practices for child protection“
Online Conference in Zoom,
2 March, 2022, 14.00 – 17:00 h
Child abuse is a serious problem that many people still underestimate. Often, violent behavior against children is justified by social norms when it occurs within an individual family. Negative childhood experiences are dangerous to the health and well-being of the child. These are traumatic events that can range from physical, emotional to sexual abuse. They can happen both offline and online. In Bulgaria, children's rights are protected by national legislation, but this is not always enough. Sometimes, in cases of abuse and in order to respect the best interests of the child, it is important to continuously improve the child protection system. There is also a need to build on the interaction between child welfare providers, teachers, the police and other services working with children. Sometimes the right approach is also missing due to a lack of trained professionals.
Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation (WCIF), in partnership with the State Agency for Child Protection and the Education Trade Union at Confederation of Labour "Podkrepa", organize a conference on "Good Practices and Approaches for Child Protection".
The conference is the final event of a project for capacity building of professionals involved in child protection from the fields of social services, education and police. The project is co-funded by the “Rights, Equality and Citizenship” Programme of the European Union.

The conference will present practical experiences in the field of people and organizations involved in both protection and prevention. The meeting also aims to initiate discussion on possible future needs and solutions for prevention and protection of children at risk.
